چکیده
1.1 Maximum and Minimum of subsets of R Let E be a non-empty subset of R. If there is an element M ∈ E such that x ≤ M for any element x ∈ E, we call M the maximum of E and denote M maxE. Similarly, if there is an element m ∈ E such that x ≥ m for any element x ∈ E, we call m the minimum of E and denote m minE. This concept is quite close to that of supremum and in mum, but the di erence is that maximum and minimum need not always exist.
